Thought I would bog this link up below, it 15 things that can totally screw up your audition for a professional actor and performers in dance and musical theatre . I have talked about a few of theses aspects in my interviews with my interviewee actors and some of theses pointers are actually really helpful, they have a bit of comedy to them which did make me laugh when reading them but are actually things we don't always think of. The pictures makes the points more fun to read and comical. I will be talking about some of these pointers in my essay which have been researched through my own findings and experiences with myself and other actors when auditioning.
We only get one shot so we have to make sure we are fully prepared.

interviews and inquiries

Over the last few weeks I have been interviewing actors and actresses for my inquiry. I have finally finished all my interviews and have written them up for my inquiry.

I have interviewd two male actors one older and one younger. I have also interviewed one older and one younger female actress.

The different genders and age differences will allow me to look into differnet actors perspectives and there way of dealing with audition in tv/theatre and netwroking.

From the interviews I have seen a major difference in the age differences, not so much the gender. i am excited to write up about this and keep you posted with my findings.

I am currently looking at different books, literature and articles to support my findings. I also have found out lots of different websites for actors which has been useful for myself as well as my inquiry.

Audition success

I went for an audition for a BBC production which I was over the moon about when I found out I got the job. I filmed it last week but normally takes a few months to come onto screen, so i will keep you all posted when comes out.
Throughout this process I found it really interesting seeing how people work in the industry. I also get to network with the casting director and producer of the production and see how they work. Throughout the process of getting the job through my auditions, contact was made via email and phone. using the internet and a computer is very important when receiving a job in the industry as contact is fast and you have to be on the ball when getting back to people.

I found myself very lucky to network with some great industry professional and hopefully they will remember me for any future productions.

Through my emerging findings from my previous blogs about social media. I have researched and looked into how TV and Film are looking into these aspects in order to promote work and casting. Whilst browsing castings the other day I found an open audition for star wars the new movie, Could this be a big audition that actors maybe missing out on if not keeping up with social media. This is a film written and produced by very big names of producers and casting directors in the industry, i found out about this audition through Twitter as a casting director had blogged "who is going to the open Star wars audition". It seems to me that this promotes the film itself as well as opening out to all people, so why would you not put this up on social media? as most of the population use it. Don't miss out guys...

evidence for my inquiry

Hi Guys this is a link below I found for my evidence, something new I am critically reflecting throughout my interviews which I have discovered. This is a site below for actors models, casting directors and any other performers to interact and join for free with other professionals in the industry.
The site offers free info on castings, blogs, interactions rooms and networking for actors and performers. Could someone who is not using social media in order to network with other actors or professionals in the industry miss out on valuable information?

Interview contrasts in age

After interviewing my two male actors and putting their contrasting answers together. I have come to the conclusion that their is a significant area of difference in the industry we are in between the two different ages of actors in social networking.

Many Actors work without an agent which make me question how do they get work with social media?

It has come to my awareness that social networking has a big impact on how you sell yourself as an actor and job opportunities. There is a great difference in generation between the two ages, which is not based on all individual actors but just based upon the two ages I have interviewed so far. I will look more into this and look at some evidence of literature and articles to find some more evidence on this.

The older actor I interviewed does not use any social networking sites for e.g. twitter, casting call pro and Facebook. I feel this may impact older actors in some ways, but the other side to the argument is that they have more contact throughout the years of acting with casting directors or directors in TV. My question is what about New casting directors and directors entering the industry everyday, they seem to use a lot of social networking and advertise jobs on networking sites for eg casting call pro, twitter and sometimes Facebook. I know this because I use these sites myself and so do many other young actors I know.
Could this be work that the older generation of actors are missing out on?

my process of my inquiry interview 1&2

During the process of putting together my inquiry I am interviewing professional actors in the industry.  These Actors will be two females,  and two males, both one older and one younger.

I have interviewed two males so far for my inquiry and have already got the permission for the female actors which I will be participating in very soon. Because of actors time and their profession it is very hard to get a chance to spend some time with them when interviewing which I was very grateful for when given the opportunity.I can't name them because of ethics, but they have worked on many big TV productions and know theater's and have had lots of experience as well as knowing big directors and casting directors in the industry.

The interviews I have done so far were recorded on a Dictaphone, I did this in case I missed out on any key points. However I asked permission  before and they were fine with being recorded. I also wrote down notes and bullet points during the interview.

The two male interviewees were different ages which allowed me to see the contrasts in observation to the acting industry in TV.

There were quite a few different contrasts in the different ages which has made me think into different aspects of critical reflection. I will put these together and find out the major differences and blog these for you all to read.
